Joseph Aspey is the founder and director of Zim Digital. With a First Class Honours degree in Computer Science and over 15 years of professional software engineering experience, he has spent his career inside large organisations building software at scale.
His career has progressed through every level of an engineering function, from developer to lead developer, team lead, and application architect. That progression matters: it means he's written the code, led the teams, designed the systems, and dealt with the business stakeholders. Few consultancies bring that full spectrum of experience to a small business or a startup.
Through Zim Digital, Joseph has delivered work for major UK organisations including Betfred on customer safeguarding and safer gambling systems, and Davies Group in the insurance sector contributing to their AI factory blueprint solution. His specialisms are .NET, React, Microsoft Azure, and increasingly, agentic AI on Azure AI Foundry.
With Zim Digital, he works directly with clients, from initial architecture through to production deployment. No account managers, no hand-offs. When you work with Zim Digital, you work with the person who has actually built and shipped software for some of the country's largest companies.

Christy Aspey is Finance Director and the majority shareholder of Zim Digital. While Joseph leads the technical delivery, Christy runs the commercial and financial side of the business: invoicing, accounts, cashflow, budget control, supplier management, and the unglamorous-but-critical work that keeps a consultancy stable and predictable for its clients.
For clients, this matters for two reasons. First, it means Zim Digital is a properly run, family-owned company with disciplined financial controls, not a one-person freelance operation. Invoices go out on time, accounts are filed on time, and you always know who to speak to about anything commercial. Second, it means Joseph can focus entirely on engineering and client delivery without being pulled away by the administrative overheads that slow most small consultancies down.
Having a dedicated Finance Director is unusual for a consultancy of our size, and it's a deliberate structural choice. It's part of why we're a partner you can contract with confidently on long-term engagements and public sector work.

Beyond the core team, Zim Digital works with a small group of trusted associates, each with deep expertise in their own discipline. They join client engagements where their specialism is the right fit, giving us the capacity of a larger consultancy without losing the focus and accountability of a founder-led one.
Damith is a Microsoft technology specialist with over 20 years of software development experience. His career includes a Lead Developer role at Betfred, and he brings deep expertise across .NET, big data platforms, and WordPress to Zim Digital client work. He joins projects where production-grade full-stack delivery on the Microsoft stack is the primary need.
Lead QA Engineer
Greg Kelly
Greg is a Lead QA Engineer with over 28 years of experience in software testing. His career spans test analysis and test lead contracts across utilities, telecommunications, finance, retail, logistics, education, and government sectors. He joins Zim Digital engagements where measurable quality improvements, lower defect rates, and reliable on-time releases are the primary need.
Erin is a freelance graphic designer specialising in niche and bespoke branding. She brings a strong visual identity approach to Zim Digital engagements where clients need brand-led design alongside technical delivery. Erin joins projects where logo work, brand systems, and considered visual design matter as much as the code behind them.
Associates are independent specialists, not employees of Zim Digital Limited. They join specific engagements by mutual agreement where their expertise is the right fit.
